Elementary Teacher Moonlights as District Contributing Writer

Although her title is officially Rainwater Elementary fourth-grade English Language Arts teacher, Lauren Marsh also flexes her public relations skills as additional help for the CFBISD Communications Services team.

Marsh is a contributing writer for the news hub on the district's website and the district’s new magazine, “Inside CFB.” She also assists in managing the hundreds of notifications the district receives on its Twitter profile each month.

“Lauren has been a great help throughout the school year,” said Chelse Westbrook, CFBISD Director of Communications. “It is not uncommon for communications departments to outsource projects and tasks during their busy seasons. We are fortunate that we are able to outsource to someone already in the CFBISD family who understands the community and is passionate about the district’s mission and vision.”

Marsh has been in CFBISD since 2007. In addition to teaching at Rainwater Elementary, she helps manage the school’s social media presence and serves as the campus Gifted and Talented Liaison.

“I grew up in CFBISD and am proud to be part of the school district that helped make me who I am today,” Marsh said. “Working with the Communications Department has given me the opportunity to learn even more about CFBISD and make connections with so many incredible educators in this district.”

She holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of North Texas.

Marsh has written several stories including:

“Lauren began working with our team in the summer of 2020 when the pandemic peaked,” said Dawn Parnell, CFBISD Chief Communications Officer. “Her expertise and understanding of communicating with teachers has been invaluable and right on target. We are grateful to have Ms. Marsh on our team as an ongoing contributor.”
